You’ve doubtless heard the phrase, “there’s an app for that.” And you probably know that “app” is short for application. The phrase “there’s an app for that” is more true today than ever before. With the right apps, you can better manage your money including your income, expenses, credit cards and debt levels.
Finance apps
While you can get an app that will help you dress better, find a destination or order a Domino’s Pizza, I think the really valuable apps are those that can help you better manage your finances.
Best finance apps for the iPhone®
The app Accounts is like a checkbook transaction register. You set up an initial balance, create accounts and then enter your transactions. Accounts will give you a running balance based on the transactions you added. You can send Accounts data to yourself by e-mail or export it to a spreadsheet.
Budgeting app
You can use the app Ace Budget to create a budget and then track your expenses. After you create your budget, you enter your transactions and the app will help you keep track of your expenses and income based on that budget. Ace Budget has a nice interface and generates easy-to-read reports that can be very helpful.
A personal assistant
The app Personal Assistant Premium tracks all your accounts in one place. It is said to be easy to set up. In addition to tracking checking and savings accounts, you can use Personal System Premium to track other activities such as your cell phone usage, your Amazon.com account or real-time updates on flights.
Two other helpful iPhone apps
You can use the app Grocery Gadget to set up lists and then send them to your iPhone. You can check off items as you add them to your cart and if you have an iPhone 3GS or newer, you can use its barcode scanning function to add prices so you will know exactly what you are spending each month.
With the app Debt Tracker Pro you enter your loan information and then create a payoff plan. It will track where you are
in debt repayment and how long it will take until you have completely paid off the loan(s).
Android personal finance apps
In the Android world there is an app named Loot. It is a simple finance tracker that serves as an electronic check register on your phone. Like the iPhone app Accounts, Loot lets you enter your transactions – deposits and purchases – so you will always know your “actual”
balance.
My Coupons is a cool app that automatically delivers a list of very valuable coupons to your Android phone every day. You can use it to search for local deals and even scan in the barcode of an item to see if there is a coupon available for it.
The app EasyMoney is said to have a great feature set, including the ability to create recurring transactions, customizable financial reports, color-coded budgets, transfers between accounts and upcoming and overdue bills notifications.
Nickel Tracker is a free budgeting app for Android phones. It uses the old “envelope “budgeting concept to keep you sticking to your budget. You set up categories with spending limits, then enter your purchases. If you go over budget in any category, Nickel Tracker will alert you.
Lots more available
You can find more personal finance apps by searching on either iPhone finance apps or Android finance apps. In either event, you’re bound to find one that will help you do a better job of managing your finances.
You can find all of these apps on Google Play and iTunes App Store Finance Section
There’s no app for serious debt
If you’re really in debt and I mean really, there’s no smart phone smart enough to help and no app that can make it go away. Even we can’t eliminate all your debt but we can negotiate settlements that will get your debts reduced to just a fraction of what you owe and help you become debt free in 24 to 48 months. We charge no upfront fees so you have nothing to lose by giving us the opportunity to settle your debts. In fact, we charge nothing unless we can negotiate a payment plan you approve.
